Getting Around in Park City

Getting around in Park City is easy. Gone are the days of horse-drawn stagecoaches and handcarts that carried pioneers to the west.

Park City has an engaging silver mining history, with its deposits of gold, silver and lead attracting miners and entrepreneurs of yore. In fact, it was the presence of silver that led to the creation of the railway and railroad station stop in Park City.

Unlike most other cities in the state of Utah, Mormons did not establish Park City. In fact, the majority of migrants and miners who founded Park City loved to drink and gamble: the two vices that are held grave by Mormons. As a testament to this history, Main Street was lined with saloons.

However, when the settlement officially became a city, the people embraced technology and furthered its infrastructure. The telephone service was established in 1881. A public school and a hospital were built and electricity began to flood the streets with light in 1884. Park City, when it was incorporated into a city in the same year, eventually became one of the most affluent cities of the 21st century.

But wealth is just one facet of this Summit County resort town. Visitors find Park City memorable, while residents consider Park City a paradise. To know this paradise, it is important to know the ins, outs and the ways to get around Park City.
